Frequently asked questions

Why does the widget update in jumps?

Because iOS does not tell widgets about your steps in real time. No step widget on iOS does — not this one, and not anyone else's. iOS wakes the app in the background from time to time, the app rebuilds the widget's picture then, and iOS allows only a limited number of those updates per day.

So the gazelle moves in hops of several minutes to tens of minutes rather than gliding. On a heavy walking day iOS may space those hops out further. Opening the app always brings the widget fully up to date immediately.

I said no to Health access. How do I turn it back on?

Open the Health app → your profile picture → AppsStep Gazelle, and turn on Steps. Step Gazelle only ever reads; it will not write anything to Health.

How does the goal work?

Your goal is not a number we picked. Step Gazelle looks at your last 30 days and sets today's goal to one of your lower days — so it is always something you have actually done recently. As your quieter days get busier, the goal rises with them, up to your target. It is a floor you raise, not a target you chase.

What is a pass?

A day off. Travel, illness, a rest day — excuse it, and that day stops dragging your floor down. Your goal reflects the days you meant to walk, not the ones life got in the way of.

I paid for premium and it is not showing.

Premium is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account. On a new device, or after reinstalling, open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchase. If it still does not appear, email us — include the Apple Account you purchased with and we will sort it out.

Does my data leave my phone?

No. There is no account and no server. See the privacy policy for the specifics.
